Safety & Standards

The ATA considers one of its most important duties to be the promotion of the highest possible standards of safety in design and manufacture of children's products. The ATA works closely with regulatory authorities, Federal & State, on all issues of safety and standards and through this involvement ATA members are recognised as having a prime responsibility. The ATA was also a key participant in the development of the ISO Toy Standard first published in 2000.

Representation

The ATA represents the interests of the toy industry on several levels addressing issues and commercial problems which could have a profound effect on the toy business. Nationally, the ATA monitors government regulation and participates in submissions on relevant issues. The ATA is involved in a variety of business forums representing the views of its industry sectors. Federal & State Governments and authorities also recognise the ATA as the first port of call on issues relating to toys and kids products. Internationally the ATA is a member of the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) and the Asian Council of Toy Industries (ACTI). The ATA actively participates in these forums.

Networking

ATA meetings and functions provide opportunities for members to exchange ideas, build relationships and socialise with all sectors of our industry. The ATA’s annual Gala Dinner is held alongside the Toy Hobby & Licensing Fair in Melbourne in March and is an excellent forum for members to meet, socialise and celebrate the achievements of their peers.

Value of Play

The ATA continues to promote the Value of Play as an important message and as part of this Members are encouraged to participate from time to time thus promoting them as a responsible supplier.

Export Network

Through the Export Network the ATA assists members interested in developing their export markets. A major activity is to organise an ATA stand at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. Export Network members receive up to date information on export matters.

The ATA logo is the recognised industry symbol. Members are supplied with an ATA member decal and can also apply for an electronic ATA member logo.

Publications

ATA members are kept up to date via regular Member eBulletins as well as through the ATA's website.

Public Relations and Promotions

The ATA has an important role to play in the promotion of a positive image of its industry sectors. The ATA has a public relations program in place promoting the Association and it's members to the Australian market.

Member Advice and Assistance

The ATA acts as a primary resource for members requiring assistance with technical, licensing, ethical matters and guidelines.

Research & Development

Industry research is vital in establishing the importance of the toy industry to the economy. Research will therefore provide the basis for the ATA to influence and convince commerce and government. This is an area of continuing development by the ATA.
